DEFENDING THE RIGHTS OF THE INJURED

OVER 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE SERVING

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT VICTIMS

Motorcyclists are particularly prone to suffer serious injuries after a motor vehicle accident. While cars and trucks have built-in safety features to protect the driver, motorcycles offer little to no protection against a collision. When another driver crashes into you, you may be left with serious life-altering injuries – even if you were wearing a helmet.

Dovalina Law, PLLC, has a long history of standing up for injured Texans. Our Del Rio firm focuses exclusively on Personal Injury. law. and our attorneys work one-on-one with each client to ensure they are treated fairly and receive the compensation they deserve.

TEXAS MOTORCYCLE HELMET LAWS

In Texas. anybody under the age of 21 is required to wear a helmet when on a motorcycle, whether as a driver or a passenger. Those over 21 are able to ride a motorcycle without a helmet, but they must first pass an approved motorcycle training course or have at least $10.000 in medical insurance coverage for any injuries that may result.

While it may be legal for certain motorcyclists to ride without a helmet, we highly advise against it – not only for your own safety. but for your personal injury case as well. If you are injured in a motorcycle accident and those injures could have been prevented or mitigated by wearing a helmet. you may be partially to blame, and your recovery may be reduced. In Texas, this is referred to as “proportionate responsibility.”

Whether or not you were wearing a helmet does not affect your ability to file a claim and pursue compensation, however. When you are injured by another vehicle while riding your motorcycle. you should always seek guidance from an experienced attorney to ensure you receive maximum possible compensation for those injuries.
